Ex-Lover Number 3

I think a little part

of myself will always

love who I was when we

were young reckless lovers

When we would steal kisses

And everything felt like

new and there was little

left to question between

the sheets of your tempting bed

I remember one time

you left me too early

and the narcotics that were

your kiss left me withdrawn

So scorned and aching I

looked around your room in

hopes that I would find a

clue to open you up

I found a picture of

you on your father's lap

a cigarette carton

and a song about me

and everything I think

you hoped I was when we

first met and I had a

flask caressing my hip

When you tempted me with

Your broken smile and

Dark wet eyes that I did

not know at the time

would be my last to love
